For the health conscious here is a very fine alternative to the oily pakoras. Less on calories but high on taste.
Ingredients
- 25 gms Chana Daal
- Green Chili Paste of 2 chilies
- 1 tsp Garlic Paste
- 1 chopped Onion
- 1/3 tsp Celery Seeds (ajwain)
- Two pinches of Soda Powder (edible)
- ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
- ¼ small bowl of Coriander Leaves
- 1 tsp Refined Oil
- Salt to taste
- Water
Method
Step 1
Soak the Chana Daal in water for two hours.
Step 2
Drain the water from the daal and grind it in a grinder to make a fine paste. Remove it in a bowl. To this add green chili paste, garlic paste, chopped onion, coriander leaves, soda powder (edible) and celery (ajwain) seeds, salt to taste and oil. Mix well and keep aside.
Step 3
In a Steamer, add 1 liter of water. Heat it for 5 minutes for steam formation. Use the steamer plate attachment to put the daal mix like small pakoras onto the plate. You can also grease the plate with little bit of oil for easy removal of bafauri after cooking. Cover the steamer and steam cook for 30 minutes.
Step 4
After 30 minutes, the Bafauris will be fully cooked. Remove them in a serving plate with the help of a spoon.
Serve the Bafauri with Dhaniya Chutney
